I have to change the oil seal on my steering box.(1967 BJ8)
Can I just remove the steering arm and take the seal out, or do I have to take the box apart? Also, it seems like I read somewhere that someone had used two seals instead of just one? What this was for I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated!
thanks tom

Yes it is that simple TOM.

or do I have to take the box apart?----NO!!!! :nonod:

Yes the narrower seals are available from MOSS I think. However, using narrower two seals they only occupy the same space as the original single one but they :

1] Increase the pressure on the shaft and place it at two new places which avoids the old worn spot.

2] They seal on a slightly different spot on the shaft enhancing the potential of a better fit. ----Fwiw--Keoke
