This setup worked fairly well:

Tube at bottom is just under 3/8" OD. Would take the bulb off and fill the turkey baster with Penrite then use the bulb to push it into the steering box. Repeat about 100 times and voila!
IMHO the Penrite works a little better cold - not quite as messy.

IMHO & FWIW - If I had steering box out for overhaul, would be inclined to put a zerk fitting toward the bottom of the front plate then use a grease gun to pump in the John Deere NLGI #0 grease.

Used a 12" piece of wire with a mark at 4-3/16" for a dipstick which works with the steering at left lock.
