A quart/liter should do it; a pint won't. If you're buying Penrite, 2 bottles.
When you're filling the steering box, be sure to turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times so it settles in properly - otherwise it will appear as full when it's only half full.
I found it convenient to heat up the grease in the microwave, then use a turkey baster to inject it into the box.

If you're using corn head grease then its a cartridge and a half or thereabouts .

The John Deere Corn Head grease is easiest to install with a gun with a flex hose and grease injector needle. The needle probes down into the box so you're filling it up from the bottom up.
Installing from a squeeze bottle such as Penrite is more difficult because the grease tends to collect at the top and overflow out the hole.
Be sure to turn the steering wheel such that the box's internal arm is out of the way of the hole or it'll tend to block the filling, causing overflow.
