I believe the steering box adjustment peg is secured with a jam nut which is typically lower in profile and about half the size of a conventional nut of same threading. Yours just might be correct. Is the nut ruined or damaged in any way so that it's not locking the peg properly? Gonzo

Guessing here as I don't have my car right now... nut and screw are "NA" in Moss catalog. I'm guessing they're an obsolete whitworth pattern. AH spares sells the screw for a hefty price - but not the nut.
Suggest buying used from British Car Specialists - David Nock handles the used stuff.
PS - if you can measure the thread count and diameter, you could look up the spec on one of the British fastener charts online and maybe get a nut from:

If you think it is whitworth threads, I have a kit of tap and dies for that. I will check to see if I have anything that large. The nut at present is on the peg and stuck. I think it will break before it will unscrew.

Jerry, quite unlikely that it is Whitworth or metric. I'm heading down to check my spares stash shortly. Can I assume that due to the nut problem the adjusting screw is stuck in the steering box cover?
EDIT: just checked and I have a couple pegs and nuts. Major diameter of peg is approx .510" and has between 18.5 and 19 tpi. This seems to indicate it is 1/4" BSP. Rather odd for the usage.
EDIT2: little further digging and it may be an obsolete M13 thread.

I have no idea what thread it is.
the flats (wrench size) measure 18mm across, the threaded stud measures about .510/13mm,
I have no thread gauge that matches... it's somewhere between 18 and 20 tpi and none of my metric thread gauges seem to match.
I do have one though, along with the stud - last summer I bought a couple of steering boxes on eBay trying to find a rebuildable one - no joy, but it has left me with some spare parts
The only way I have to ship it is priority mail because I happen to have a box here and some stamps (I won't go near a post office because of the virus).
Down side is USPS website says $8:30 for postage - if you want to pay the postage, it's yours. Just PM me a mailing address.
