Has anyone ever ordered body panels from Steelcraft? If so, how is the quality and how is the exchange rate & shipping on said parts?

vping - Steelcraft is fine for the inside bits, but I would use BMIHT/Heritage parts for the outer sills if you can $wing it. That's what I did anyway. No probs with fit of the disparate brands, although I did rip the outer edge (and about 3/8in) from the bottom from the floorpans. As suppplied, the Steelcraft pans have a huge outer folded section for folks who are not replacing the inner sill.

I actually miss doing this stuff, if you lived a bit closer we'd be wrenching right now.

$163.35 for the driver side.
$165.78 for the pasenger side.

Keep in mind, this was 13 years ago, so double the prices.

I'm in the Lehigh Valley, Allentown/Bethlehem area.

That's only 2 hours away. Not that far. I have a neighbor who owns a body shop. I will need to ask if he can get parts cheaper than a catalog.

Of course that reciept IS 13 years old!!!! I think there has been a few price hikes since then. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Your best bet is to find a Moss reseller/wholesaler (hint: Tony Barnhill) and build a relationship. Parts cost will be the least of your challenges.

You can rent a 110V mig from most local tool rental shops. Thats what I did, took 4 rentals at about $60ea.

Carpe Diem, you're not getting any younger /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

Of course... for the cost of those rentals (maybe plus a couple more), you can buy a welder.

Well to be fair Kenny, I did tell him to double the prices - have not checked lately, probably even more. To be frank, the parts cost is nominal, the mental/physical/time bit is the biggest hurdle.

You will also need an air compressor and some tools; don't even think about tackling this without the proper arsenal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

That's always been my frustrating problem... lack of the proper tool. I usually have to think about it awhile and come up with a clever substitute for the right tool - out of what I have on hand.

True. But I was paying for my and my wife's MBA at the time. Cash was tight.

Life's a bit easier now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

I have been working with a local club member who is a Moss dealer and he has been giving me parts for what he pays.(no disrespect to TB, but this is closer & no shipping costs) I have been fabricating custom parts for his TC 5 speed conversion, which gives me the good deals. He has already given me the castle rail, rocker & center support section for $150. I just need a floor, the jacking point parts plus the short cross beam. When I buy those I'll only have the one side in parts and then need to buy the other. I thought that a body guy might be able to get it even cheaper but maybe not.
I already purchased a MIG last year. Then I added the MIG kit with C02/argon tank. My tool arsenal is more than I care to admit (or let me wife know). If I need it and don't have it, I buy it and learn how to use it. I hate having things done for me if I can help it.

buy the floor from Heritage and glue it in, instructions on Tony's website. I've done half a dozen floor replacements and that's the only way to go. Heritage has the seat nuts prewelded and seem to fit better, well worth the extra money.

Why glue in lieu of welding? Easier.

Think you will find a discussion on Tonys site.

Many modern cars have many structural panels that are just glued together these days.

None taken - as a dealer he pays more than I do as a distributor...but being close is often worth paying a little more.
