Steel rim paint

I submitted the following to the wire wheel thread with no response. I would love to get some thoughts on paint colours with photos if anyone can. My 4A is red and currently has black rims, chrome wheel covers and no beauty rings....
OK, so if you decide to stick with steel rims, Black like mine, Chrome or silver painted like some or colour matched to the body colour. I am torn with repainting my rims back to black or red to match the body. Maybe a beauty ring as well?
I'd love to see some photo samples of steel rims, to assist in making up my mind.
with thanks!

black rims with black tyres? think that is too much, for my own taste, do like silver, with small amount of bodywork colour. chrome would suit period , no alloys in the mix? not sure that colouring entire rim in bodywork colour would suit, still each to there own!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Here is my 3 with the correct silver steel (no nave plates):

Same car with red rims, not correct but I wanted to change something. IMO, body-color rims look okay on sidescreen TRs but not as good on later TRs:

And here is the '4 with correct Spa White rims, a very 60s look:

My vote goes to the original white...or Silver....anything else looks kinda weird to me.

I agree, my 250 came with steels, black rims & 3,or 4a taxicab globe hubcaps, the black wheels don't look very good, too much "tire". It's low on my priority list, but I might do stainless trim rings with black wheels & centers, or paint the wheels the correct TR6 silver.

Anyone have any TR6 trim rings they are looking to sell/trade?

Thank you for the photos Geo Hahn!
Now wondering if beauty rings with black rims and taxicab (???) globe chrome hubcaps would work? Perhaps a 1/2 inch red pin line just inside the bead rim without beauty rings and black on balance of rim with chrome wheel covers....

Well, I suppose you must ask the question, do I want to personalize my car, or make it look like new? Whatever impresses you most.

Personally, I enjoy most things being stock on my Spitfires over the years, but certain things can be improved, like performance and - I always thought the stock silver wheels with silver centers were a little boring. I have personalized all three of my Spits over the years with the same wheel treatment using dark gold paint, black wheel centers, and stainless beauty rings.

I would love to post a picture but cannot figure out how to do so with the new format. I do have a couple pictures in member cars.
