I would defenitely get rid of the old gas. It starts to break down after 6 months unless fuel stablizer was added but even then I would think that some breakdown has started after 2 years. Also wouldn't hurt to add some fuel system cleaner to the gas tank to try and get rid of any varnish that might have started to form.
