Starting problems

I thought I might have connected something up wrong, too. Problem is, if I bypass the relay, even a new one, I can start right up and it runs like a top. I've tried three different new relays (including one from Moss which I got in 1 day through regular delivery methods! How about that for service?), and as soon as I put it in I get nothing to the starter. Take it out and bypass the relay and it starts fine. About a year ago I also replaced the ignition switch harness. Could it be in here - maybe one of the contacts? The mating connectors, while shaped similarly, no longer lock together because they are different. I was thinking about isolating each connection (probably in 3 two conductor connectors) to see if this could be the problem. Or should I consider replacing the switch.
Everything works fine if I jump from brown to /white brown to bypass the relay.
Thanks. This really has me confused.
By the way, runs so well I even burned rubber out of my driveway (I think it's because I have lowered the pressure in the tires while they were off the car). It was a really impressive "burnout."

What wires are you putting on what terminals of the relay?
The red/white wire only gets power when the ignition switch is in the start position. Have you used a meter to measure the voltage from the red/white wire when you turn the ignition switch to the start position? The only reasons I can see that would cause the relay not to work are; no power on the red/white wire, bad ground connection to the relay, wires hooked up to the wrong terminals on the relay, bad terminals on the wiring.

Making the connections separately sounds like a good idea...It sounds like the connectors are bad anyhow and that should identify your problem. If you want a fresh look at it, send me an email and I will take a drive over sometime this weekend, weather permitting. I am just working on the house wiring project here and have all the electical tools out and together to bring over, too!
