Starter Switch Mystery Solved!

Well, I have to extend big thanks to everyone who responded to my recent posts about my starter switch woes. I'd replaced my starter switch and solenoid and she fired...but wouldn't turn off. In addition, my starter motor ran with the car's motor, giving me probably the first "hybrid" MG is history.

Well, after testing every connection, replacing various components, and probing for shorts and improper connections, I broke down. A little less than $500 at a local miracle MG shop gave me a new solenoid (I burn my new one out during testing), and new starter (bad bendix), and solved the problem -- a hard-to-find short between the hazzard warning relay and the ignition circuit. I NEVER would have found it on my own.

I hate to admit not being able to fix something without at least trying it on my own, especially on these old toys, and feel I put more than enough time (about 25 hours) into this one problem. It took the shop about a day to find and solve all my woes. I'v verified the fix, paid, gotten my key, and will be picking up for a lovely Georgia weekend later today (when my wife comes home and can follow me in the "sag wagon," just in case

If anyone around Atlanta is at their wits end with an MG, Mini, Triumph, or Healy, I strongly recommend Global Imports on Powder Springs Road....saved me from my MG.

Thanks again to everyone and happy motoring!

$500 buys ALOT of electrical motor parts, starter is only $30.....glad ur mystery is solved though, if it was worth it to get it done!
