So I pulled the starter from my 75 Six to check, clean and fix a loose power wire and managed to break the plastic end cap at the front of the starter. Looked in Moss and TRF and they don't list this cap as a part in their starter parts diagram. The plastic cap broke in a hundred pieces when I set the starter down on the cap. I didn't drop it on the cap so I think age and heat probably made it brittle. Anyone heard of this problem and any idea where I can get a replacement cap? I don't want to buy a new starter.
Thanks, Jim

Solution #1: Visit your local auto electric shop and see what is in their "unknown parts" box.
Solution #2: Install a gear reduction starter and learn the joys of starting fast every time.

Solution #3: Cast a new one--https://bullfire.net/Casting%20Rubber/Rubber%20Casting%202.html

I found a replacement. Karter on the 6-Pack Forun sent me a link to and ebay site selling replacements.

thanks for the help. I was considering making one but for $10 buying one is a lot easier.

Aloha Jim,

That looks like a cap for a separate starter solenoid as used on TR4/MGBs with inertia starters. I have an earlier variant used on TR3s and the opening is 3/4"; the one for a TR6 starter is 1". I bet it will stretch enough to make the difference though.
