SSsnake Update...

...body man told me he needed about an hour per fender to have the Mini headlights fitted & ready for him to start making the brackets that will hold the headlight assemblies in the fenders!!

They hope to primer the entire car next week so they can finalize the fender fitment, start molding the front valance to the fenders & build the chin spoiler, etc, etc, etc....the hardtop's already primered & ready for us to fit the windshield after body primering so we can tighten the top down & do the last fitting details (gotta cut out for sunvisors, etc.).

....still a long way to go but if I get these headlights fitted, everything else is a cake walk!!

Now, I've gotta think trunk lid spolier...ideas?

Re: SSsnake Update...

If I had to do it over again, Tim, I wouldn't....& there have been many times when I seriously thought about taking those fenders off & throwing them away...but, I've got too many hours in them, $400 in a pair of Mini headlights, and just enough stubborness to make it happen (pus all those dollars in the flares we built onto them, the slicing & smoothing of the trim lines, etc.)...would I recommend anybody else do it? NO!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Sometimes, I wish I'd never gone to Florida to see that green MGB GT with them sliced into its fenders! They did it the easy, DPO way (cut a slot in the fender & stuck part of the light through that slot) so I decided to see if the fender could be reformed to fit the headlights without having to bury them inside the fender.....

Here's a photo of that FL car with the Mini headlights tucked into a 'slice' in the metal fenders:

Any luck with the taillights? We're experimenting with putting the backup lights in the bottom of an early MGB lens!!
