squeaky fan belt

Hello tr3 people I have a problem with a squeaky fan belt. First, the tr3 is all original except the fan belt in the new one with cogs. I believe I have the right tension on the belt 3/4 to 5/8(the tight side) I do not want to over tighten. Did that once. Anyways, if I spray some Liquid Wrench belt dressing the squeak goes away for week, not really fixing the problem. Could the problem be that the cogged belts are different from the stock stuff? Are these beefy boy belts just prone to squeaking?

I don't recall ever having a squeaky belt on the TR3, cogged or plain.

You might try a shot of WD40 on the moving belt (spray about where it arrives at a pulley, wear eye protection, usual disclaimer about moving belts and your body parts). Will give immediate relief -- not sure if it will last.

Glad you're not overtightening -- these belts work just fine w/o being snug.

My guess is you have a bad belt. Try a new one.
