Hi all,
Sometimes my front breaks squeak when stopping. Intermittent.
What causes this, and anything I can do?
Ciao,Roger

Hi Roger, Use Moss Motors "Anti Squeal Strips" others have had very good results using these.--Fwiw--Keoke

Roger -

Your BJ8 should have little metal "Anti-Squeal" shims between the front brake piston and the brake pads. These are standard equipment on all disk braked healeys, and also it is very common for POs and half-assed mechanics to forget to put these back in when repairing brakes/brake pads. That's what's causing yoru squealing.

I would suggest you need to get new shims (available from any healey supplier) and put them in. The job is very easy to do, will take as long as it takes you to jack up the front of the car and take off the wheels.

Be sure to lube the corners where the pads make contact. NOT THE BRAKING SURFACE.

I made my own anti-squeal shims. They work amazingly. The brakes went from badly squealing / squeaking to completely silent. :encouragement:
