Squeaking front end

After a trip to the coast(140 miles-one way) this weekend with my MG car club, I now have a squeak on the passenger side front end. Started on way back on a rough road. It was intermittent, though and sometimes even bumps did not make front end squeak. Sitting in my garage with wheels straight, pushing on frnder makes it squeak. With wheels turned full left or right, NO noise when pushing on fender. Checked shock fluid and it is full. Sprayed WD 40 on springs, no help. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help

Here's a few guesses:

Squeaking is often associated with rubber bushings. On your car, the lower "A arm" has rubber bushing on the inboard side (where it attaches to the frame of the car). Also look at the upper "arm" in the suspension (really the lever arm of the shock). The outboard part of this arm (where it attaches to the king pin) also uses a rubber bushing. WD-40 might help but motorcycle chain oil (for rubber "O"-ring chains) is better. This assumes that all these bushings are "stock".....many folks (including me) have replaced them with Delrin bushings, which don't squeak (but can be harsh-riding).

Wouldn't hurt to grease all the grease-nipples (king pin, fulcrum pin, tie-rod end, etc.)...older cars have more of these.

Check the sheet metal shield behind disk....rusted shields can break free and rub (and squeak).

Check brake pad condition. Be sure that brake pads aren't loose due to stuck disk piston and be sure anti-rattle clips on the pads are not rusted away or bent.

aeronca65t,
Thanks for the info. Lubed all grease points and used the motorcycle chain oil and no squeak - at least in the garage. As soon as rain moves out I'll give her a test drive.
