Glenn used to come over to our place every weekend in his E type. One weekend he showed up in his brothers ragged out 3000. Late Friday night in the Library, a bar in Fairfax, VA, Glenn stated there was a car show on Sunday. We went home and started working on the 3000. I welded in sheet metal repair patches, Robbie applied the mud, John sanded the repairs, and Glenn sanded all other areas. Around and around we circled the car. Late on Saturday we finished priming the car. Now seemed like a good time to locate the finish coat. All Robbie had was dark brown Dulex enamel and hot weather primer. This effort occurred in the fall when it was cool. I applied the paint and everybody stepped back to admire the new finish. As we watched, the paint started moving towards the floor. It would not tack. After removing the paint with thinner and newspapers, I went to the garage I worked at across the street. I came back with several large boxes of motor cycle lacquer touch up paint in cans about 1 inch in diameter and 1.25 inches tall and many colors. After every one opened all the cans and poured them into gallon cans I proceeded to respray the 3000. I asked Robbie to open the bay doors for more light. It was about 800 AM. We rolled the car outside and it was Salmon Pink metallic. Glenn went to the show and placed highly. We told his brother to buy a gallon of paint in the color he liked and that we would respray the car. He fell in love with the color and never had us change the color. I would never have picked pink for a 3000, but it looked great with the curves.
