Sprite misses during acceleration

We have a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite that is having trouble during acceleration. If i go very easy on the gas it works fine but, bogs or misses when giving too much throttle. It also appears to be using a lot of fuel.

Any suggestion on where to look??
It idles fine and runs fine once at speed

Sounds like you have either no oil or too thin oil in your dashpots (top of the carbs).
I normally use 20 or 30 weight oil (or similar)

Gosh, many possibilities. Is this a new thing? How does it drive under serious load (not necessarily accelerating but at high speed or on a hill-climb)? Will it do this under no load (just high revs but in neutral)? Any recent changes in the engine (with work done)?

Bill's suggestion is the first thing I would check. After that, many other possibilities, including jet adjustment/balance, float levels and fuel pressure. Remember that electrical problems often mimic fuel issues.

I will try the Oil tonignt and this seems to be a new issue. Once you are up to speed it runs great and it idles great.

It would also be helpful if we knew if the car is totally stock, or has the carb/ignition been changed from original.
