Sprite Feature race/Mid-Ohio

OK,
I am trying to get my in-car film reduced in size as it saves as an .avi which is large.

This link takes you to film I took during last Sunday's Sprite feature race with SVRA at Mid-Ohio. It had just rained so standing water can be seen all over the course. I qualified 13th of 16 as most are running 1275 engines and only a few of us are running 948 engines. Turn 1 became a parking lot, but as we exited, I quit looking and started driving...before everyone else!

I went from 13th to 2nd before the first lap ended!
I ended up 4th overall and 2nd in class (HP)!

Enjoy

Excellent! Thanks!

And congrats....you had a great result!. Next time, First in class and a spot on the overall podium!

I had considered entering my car in this, but I am so busy this year with other events and family stuff that I decided to skip it. Part of me would have really liked to run in an all-Sprite race.
I did actually run in an all Spridget 50th event last yeat (it was part of the PVGP). You can see some of the pictures from that event ~HERE~

At any rate, it was not clear to me if the SVRA would let me run my car in the Sprite event (it's really a 1500 Midget that has older Sprite fenders, etc).

I'll run the PVGP in two weeks, then the NJMP Vintage and the VRG / Watkins Glen Vintage, so I still have lots to do (I also have at least three events coming up with the Escort GT).

You can see my pictures and videos off the "Race Events" link in my signature.

What other events will you run in '08?

Nial,
Thanks!

Here is a picture of the podium..I am on the far left, grinning ear to ear!

I will run the VSCDA Autobahn event in Chicago at the end of this month, then VSCDA at Grattan MI. in August, and SVRA's Road Atlanta event in Sept. I have allready run the VSCDA Gingerman race for school in May and at Blackhawk in June. I may look to tow further for other events next year.

You are right about the podium! Being new, I wanted to ..1. Run all sessions and 2. be predictable and keep it on the track. I could have run a little harder in the rain, but at times I was flirting with spinning and severe loss of traction!

SVRA was very particular I will give you that. My car is an "Era Correct" car with VSCDA and SVRA tech was a very tough place to be. I even run the 1-1/8" carbs on the car where VSCDA allows the 1-1/2 su's. They prettymuch allowed all sorts of MG/Sprites in the Sprite/MG only races, but in the other events I was classified as group 1 where other MG/Sprites where placed in group 3.

I want to do Watkins Glen one day!
