Sprite Engine Color

I saw this question posted on the MG board and it occured to me that I'll need to know an accurate answer a bit further down the line -

What is the correct engine color for a 67 Sprite and where can I buy it?

POR-15 lists a hi-temp engine enamel as "Austin Healey Green" but it looks really dark - darker than BRG,

Moss just lists the color as "Olive Drab"

Most photos I've seen of Healey restorations tthe engine paint is a light green metallic color - as is the engine in my Sprite presently.

I'm not doing a concourse restoration, but I'd like this detail to be correct.

Thanks in Advance for any tips/help

Bob M

I think the '67 were a lighter shade of green than the earlier engines. Later engines post '68 that had emission systems were painted black. I could be wrong, but that is a rough guideline. I do not know of a good source. Maybe you should ask the Healey guys that are into concours cars.

Rob, The correct color for Sprite engine paint was the darker, almost "Forest" green. I know Moss used to sell it, as did Mini Mania. Kind of "Army Racing Green".
The big cars used the lighter green metallic.

To all who answered ( In case you miss my thank you on the Healey board) A resounding THANKS!!

I think I'll order some of the POR 15 dark green and I'll keep you posted how it looks.

Thanks again all!

Bob, even if it isn't the original engine, the dark green is the correct color for a '67.
Now, about the MG logo plate on the valve cover............

Oops, I stand corrected I thought a 1967 would have been a 12 CD engine. I get all confused in 67-68 time frame.
