ok Ive got the Arms back in Snoopy my 72 Mideget (sup-wit camel is the type of plane snoopy flew on top of his dog house)
How the *Bleep* to ge the springs in the spring compesors are so big I cant get the spring back in the spot. and if I try to push the spring up from below it lifts the car!

If the engine is out of the car, then you'll need a helper or two to hang out in the engine bay. Then you can push the a-arm all the way down and insert the spring, and jack it up to compress to get the top link attached.

ok here is how I got it done. I installed the Arm then with a spring compresser I compressed one side of the spring. on the passenger side the andle of the spring coils caused the spring comrresser to become angled I sliped it in to position jaming the head of of the compresser up in the well. next a bang with a rubber malet and it was over the lower pan. then I added the second compresser and removed the first and roatated the A arm with a jack. and hooked up the shock and tierod. the Driverside one is tricker because the angle onthe coils are agaist you but it works.

Is this a rubber bumper model? On a chrome bumper I can just push the springs in place by hand when the A-arm is dropped.

It sounds like you got it done already but for reference you can remove the spring pan, insert the spring, and then at opposite corners of the spring pan use long (4" or so) 5/16" bolts theaded all the way to compress the spring with the spring pan. Once you get the pan up to the arm install the regular bolts in the other two holes, remove the long bolts and replace with the regular ones. The nice thing about this is you can do it with the engine in or out, and you can do it with the car safely on jack stands. I've done it with a jack under the A arm and it is a little sketchy since you have to work on the trunnion without stands under the car.

Bugeyes are done with car on jackstands and a floor jack. No extra bolts or compressors or such. Quite easy actually.

I vote with the long bolts or pieces of all thread. You have the car on jack stands and everything is in control. Except the beer consumption!

Hmmm, my car was never off the stands. I did not have the shock arm bumpstop installed... maybe that gave me enough extra room.

See how easy that was. Lets all cheer for Bugeyes.

Jack, I loved your reply, while scrolling down, I kept thinking "floor jack".
