Looking for figures on the front coil spring rates (ex.300#)and for the rear leafs. Also does any one know the ride hieghts of the MkII and III.

The spring rates are usually about the same as the fall rates. Winter rates are lower & summer rates higher.

Ride heights are usually considered to be 27" from ground to wheel well edge. The BJ8 phase 2 is about 28".

In addition to great technical information Dave also gives us some of that dry wit for which folks from Idaho are widely known.

Dave,

Seriously, I don't know what the rates are supposed to be. I set my car up with 370 lb/inch on the rear springs & 600 lb/inch on the front springs. The leverage ratio on the front suspension is about 1.6. My car has about 550 lb of load on each wheel. If anyone can point us to good information please do.

PS - check this for front springs

I have been going in the Spring for years, the rates are lower and it is not as crowded. Thanks again Dave,That gave me a good idea of what is available. There must be some formula that takes into account cornor weights and gives you a mean rate to start with,I think in a previous post or on the mail list someone mention a suspension book avaiable at B&N which would be interesting to read but which I do not have at this time.As a after thought I probally did not need to see the goodies from D.W.
Figuring ways to get new parts,
