Spring cover

Here's another one of my obscure questions. On the BJ7 convertible top, there are two springs on each side covered by the rear compatment side panel and attached to the convertible top frame for ease of lowering the top. Each spring has a fabric cover. My question is this: The cover has one end open and the other end is sewn to a point with a small opening. Does the small opening go toward the bottom or the top? The top being closest to the convertible top frame. It appears from the catalogs that the springs long end goes on top though mine came with it at the bottom connector. mac

I looked at my BJ7. Ah, even at 10 degrees outside the leather smells fabulous. The cut down side of the boot is up, presumably to keep the boot in place. The long end of the spring is also up with the hook facing out. Good luck stretching the spring. Its a bear without some type of expander.

Thanks Stretch. I assume that the 'cut down" end you mentioned is the end cut at about 60 degree angle and sewen to a point leaving a little opening for the long kneck of the spring. mac
