The following Press Release should appear in the next Victory Lane along with the below picture:
SPORTS RACER EVENT
The 1950’s are often considered the Golden Age of Sports Car racing. The giants of racing—Fangio, Hawthorn, Moss, Collins, etc. were at or near the peaks of their careers and the Sports racer was the ultimate development of the small and medium bore sports car. To celebrate the greatness of the era and these iconic cars the Vintage Racer Group will feature “Sports Racers from the 1950’s” at its September 16-18 races on New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Lightning race track.
Pre-1960 cars up to 2000 cc displacement, (race groups F/Modified and G/Modified are eligible to compete. Examples include Lotus 11’s, 15 and 17, Lola MK I, Elva MK’s II-V, Porsche 550/RSK, Borgward RS, and Cooper Bobtails plus a good number of less frequently seen but equally significant SR’s and “specials”.
State of New Jersey laws and/or VRG rules require the installation of satisfactory rollover protection, fuel cells and seat belts. For further information please contact : michael.oritt@gmail.com or 305-793-9467.
I'm excited about the idea of seeing a full grid of cars similar to my MK IV--they still do this regularly in the UK but over here front-engined SR''s fell out of favor when the mid-engined cars such as Lotus 23's Elva, MK VI-VII's and later Coopers appeared.
