GT6 "Sports" Exhaust

My intent with the recent GT6 acquisition was to see if I could get it running and derivable without doing a major restoration. So in the past 6 months I've done a couple of weeks fixing what needs to be fixed. I am that slow but there were a lot of things that needed to be fixed. It now "runs and yard drives."

My question concerns the exhaust. It has what appears to be "Monza" or "Abarth" exhaust (are they the same?) The one I have is plain steel and although rusty, it appears to be leak free. But it is very loud. I've read that they are loud but mine at least is unacceptable. My guess is that the baffles and packing inside have disintegrated. But I don't want to buy a new one (stainless now of course) if it is going to be as loud as the old one. Except for the noise or perhaps because of the noise, it seems to fit the car.

The factory exhaust option, which is now only available in stainless as far as I can tell, and quite expensive, appears a bit puny to me but has one advantage in addition to quiet. It exits under the right side, away from the gas tank outlet, while the Monza has the left branch of the exhaust directly under the fuel outlet fitting on the bottom of the tank..

(Note also that my late '73 GT6 should have the fuel outlet that is integral with the gauge sender, which would negate that issue, but it shows no evidence that it was ever plumbed that way.)

I would be consulting with your nearest exhaust repair guy, as off the shelf, self fix options may not be the optimal.

Thanks, I had considered that. It is an option and there is a guy in the neighborhood. Not to be fussy but I guess I am fussy and I'm not really comfortable with a dozen or more stainless butt welds and the sharp corners.
Fortunately the GT6 is a featured model at the British Invasion in Vermont in Stowe VT next month and perhaps I'll get to hear some options.

I wonder if anyone has the fuel outlet in the gauge sender and could describe the routing of the pipe.
Tom
