I was looking at some pictures online the other day and came across a spitfire, one of the mid 70's ones that still had the metal bumper but had it raised, and the owner had cut the middle of the bumper out. It was similar to the way the rear bumper is with the two separate pieces... it left the grill in the front exposed. Just wondering if anyone else has seen/heard of this being done. It looked pretty good and I'm thinking of getting another bumper to try it on... I've got a 1970 mk3

This was a reasonably popular modification at one time, mostly on the Spitfire Mk3 and GT6+/Mk2, and you still see it occasionally today. It actually looks quite nice, but at the greatly increased risk of damage to the nose of the Spitfire!
