Spitfire Spitfire restoration in Hemmings Sports & Exotic

There has been an ongoing series in Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car on one man's adventure in doing a total restoration on his beloved Spitfire. The articles are quite informative and the guy (Richard Lentinello, wonder if he is on the BCF?) is somewhat fanatical in detail. Not only is he completely restoring the car but improving a lot of small areas with better-than-original parts and details. Part VII is in this months. I wonder if one could buy the back issues of Hemmings from the publisher (Vermont). Would be a treasure trove of tidbits for someone wanting to undertake such a task. Richard is very keen on details.

Mr. Lentinello has an edge on most of us. He is the editor of Hemmings Motor news and has more projects waiting in the wings. Bob

Dang, I thought he was one of us! And I'm stuck pulling teeth.

It's not quite the sort of restoration I am used to. I don't think he has had the angle grinder out once!

Yeah, Nick, I think he had a pretty solid body to begin with!
We should be so lucky.

That's a worthwhile magazine to subscribe to. I happened to catch it as it was first coming out, and have had a subscription since issue #1. One of the few magazines I keep after I'm done reading them.
