Spitfire Spitfire Offer

Yesterday I pulled into Subway with my 1500 and a gentleman stopped and asked me if I wanted two more spitfires. One is a yellow 1971 MkIV and the other is a red 1976 1500. The 71 has a title but is a parts car and is very rough but the engine looks good. The 76 has a good body apart from a hole in the floor on the driver's side. The 76 also has a hard top and overdrive and it runs. Problem is... the 76 doesn't have a title. The gentleman wants $500 for the pair. The 71 has a really good front bumper that I need for my 78 and the 76 has a lot of potential as a project but the title issue has me stumped. What do you guys think? Go ahead and get them and tow them out of there or let them sit in that guy's field?
Thanks

Honestly, the '76 with OD and hardtop is worth at least that much money by itself; sell either OD or hardtop and just about cover the purchase cost. I know nothing about tracking down titles in PA, but it wouldn't hurt to check with your DMV and see what might be done!

:iagree:

Every state has some process for turning "parts" back into a "car". Be sure to get a detailed bill of sale, though.

Another option is to use one of the "title services". Typically they are located in a state that allows a bill of sale to transfer older cars, so you transfer the car to them with a bill of sale and then they sell it back to you with a title.

If you have a place to store them and you plan to keep the Spit for a while, then grab them. Hardtop will bring $300 quickly and overdrive at least $500 as well. The rest is free.

NO! DO NOT BUY THESE!!! :nonod:

Report the offender's address and contact info to me at once! :yesnod:

I shall deal with it accordingly!

Does he prefer cash or check? :jester:

lol... They are sitting in a field in Armagh, Pa. Beyond that the location is classified...

Guess I'll need to figure out how to get the roll-back up there to pull them out!

Yeah... Can pretty much see the roof of it over the hill...

Thanks guys! The fiance and I are getting a house this week and I'm going to tow the two cars in the week after that

Pretty certain Charles would call them "treasures" and lock them in the barn over there and they would never see the light of day.
