Spitfire Spitfire glove box, or lack of

you should have a cardboard box on the passenger side of the dash, underneath. personally, i think i might upgrade to a more tr6 style dash with a door and everything.

there are alot of options for placement, but not very many original ones.

I don't know what the dash on a '78 looks like. On the early cars from the mid-1960s there is the cardboard bin that Flinky describes. There was a 'period accessory' available from ADCO that was a wrinkle finished locking door/front assembly for those bins. I had the luck of finding one years ago when restoring my GT6. A door does improve the look and provide a little privacy for storing things.

I carry mine in my wallet. Works since my car never goes anywhere without me. come to think of it... my car rarely goes!

Hi,

There were (are?) also center consoles with locking lids... also a nice center armrest. I've got one that fits in my TR4. Most of these just slip over the driveshaft tunnel, but might best be held in place with a couple screws. Some had (have?) other features such as built-in speakers, lighters, change holders, p'haps even cupholders. There are modern repros, but might or might not look right and "period correct" in your car.

Greetings & Salutations; If you choose you can visit my website https://www.myspitfire.zoomshare.com and take look at an original 'AMCO'full center console looks like. Its a rare one;Presently it has taken the place of the console array on my 1980 Spit not period correct but who cares but me & WhiteLightning & friends. Also increased my investment by $200.00 well worth it.I now have two cigar lighters & the one in the console doubles as a socket for my plug-in voltage meter.,cool.

Joe - I am thinking I will just velcro a smal folder to the bottom of the passenger-side package bin. Self-stick velcro on the bottom of the bin ('loop' side), and a small folding fabric wallet with velcro sewn on it ('fuzzy' side). Then just stick it under there.

OOPS! I meant AMCO, not ADCO. The cover our GT6 has will be different than the console MySpitfire mentions above but it's the same company.
