I had clutch slip on the Spitfire on Friday, which developed suddenly, along with a soft pedal and high engagement point.
Saturday bought a new clutch kit and took it and the car in to the mechanic Monday. The kit was reasonably priced; about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of many modern cars, so not too bad.
While the car was up in the air the mechanic noticed a cracked passenger side swaybar mount, its just a tab welded to the chassis rail, so this is being repaired.
I was really pleased at the excellent rust free cvondition of te chassis, floors etc., but would like to suggest other Spit owners check these mounts as a safety item, easily done in a minute.
I should get the car back tonight, the old clutch was glazed rather than worn out, hope the hydraulics are good!
