Spitfire Spitfire Carbs

We just rebuilt our Spitfire 1500 engine and installed it. It now runs very well.

It has mild decking, high compression pistons, 74 exhaust manifold, Aluminum flywheel, 3-axis valve job, new stock cam, rebuilt crank, all new bearings, well balanced, and of course all new bearings. It runs very well however a little goofy from 1,000 rpm to 2,000. We used the original single Stromberg.

I think it needs more carb.

Opinions?

Dual 1.25 SU’s
Dual 1.5 SU’s
Webber something’s
New S.U. 1.75 for the single carb MG

Any opinions?

go with the HS4s or HIF4s with those engine modifications. Finding a 1.5 intake manifold for the 1500 at a decent price on this side of the pond will be the hardest obstical.

If I go with the su-4's how interchangable are the parts for connecting the carbs. Is the linkage from an MG the same?
 
WOrked with the advance last week. Verified that the vacuum and centrifugal work correctly. Change the timing to less avanced.
