Yep. That's the choke info I have. Seems pretty reasonable.
The Z-S and ugly, old exhaust manifold are back on the engine. I finished up around 11pm last night and planning to fire him up when I get home from work this afternoon. although I think I'll do a little more cleaning on the choke before getting it filled with water. Regarding the vacuum ports, is there any risk in blowing some air through there to make sure they're clear?
As I think about this more, I think I'll get the linkage sorted and see how it runs before jumping into swapping needles. I can't imagine the acceleration being all that great when planting one's foot to the floor only equals 1/2 throttle at the carb... I think "fundamental operation issues" need to be address before "tuning issues". With the linkage operating correctly, the car might run on the current needles, but I'm pretty darned sure the needles won't make a bit of difference with the throttle plates only opening to 50%. I'll definitely seek out QM on Friday.
I'm planning to bring the carbs as well... so everyone can heckle me... Hey... maybe I'll bring the header as well and we can do the conversion on the show field...
