Spin on oil filter position

Ok guys

Took my spin on oil filter adaptor off when I stripped the engine for a rebuild, forgot to note which way the adaptor fitted. As I see it with the engine in the normal position there are four holes in a sort of diamond pattern . Two are for the fixings and they are sort of horizontal and there are two larger holes for the oil flow, one 'above' the other. Which of those two should be centred on the oil filter , if that makes sense?

Your help would be appreciated.

I may have found the answer, the back of the adaptor has a chamfer on it, I think that it is there so that the adaptor misses the lump in the casting that is an oil feed to the base of the dizzy? this puts the upper of the two oil holes as the centre of the oil filter, can any one confirm.

Bob

I have the moss adapter and the two countersunk holes are for the bolts, while the remaining two to allow oil flow. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, and you can test it by setting the bolts loosely and poking through the holes with a drift- if you hit the block you are on wrong, but if your drift enters the engine, you are aligned. Pictures on the moss instructions may help:
