Spin-on oil filter conversion for TRactor motor

Hoo Boy -- now we get to do the Fram filter thread again.

I think I got both my conversions from Moss but perhaps they are all brand 'Mocal'. The seal can be fussy but once it is sorted you're pretty much set for life.

I use a Fram filter but once you settle on which filter you want you will find it available in all the major brands.

Wix #51516 (NAPA 1516) is the preferred filter for me.

Mocal is a trusted mfg of these spin on kits. Ask the vendor where they're made and go from there. U.K. being better than Taiwan or India IMO.

Easy to install, just be sure that the old o-ring gasket is out of the groove and the mating surface is clean before installing. Follow the torque recommendations and do not overtighten the center bolt or you could crack the adapter casing.

I paint my filters to match the original blue-green color or the housing. I used a Chrysler Engine paint from Plasti-coat and it's a good enough match.

I've been using Detroit Diesel Alpine Green from Dupli-Color and on the shelf at PepBoys, etc. It is high temp engine paint so it holds up pretty well.

I work ahead so they can dry for several months before being installed.

I am a convert, also have a 13 row oil cooler connected to the adaptor. Oil filter is commonly referred to as a "3600" series.
I don't paint them, I change them often so its not worthwhile.

I second the NAPA 1516 Gold. Mocal has improved their conversion for the TR6 according to the literature that I got with mine about 6 months ago from BP Northwest.

Saw the newer Mocal has better sealing. Does anyone know if you can get it w/ a thermostat for the oil cooler?
