Spin-On Oil adaptor for AH 100-6 and 3000

In one of the few times I have conceded to modern convenience on the 100-6, I purchased a Spin-On oil filter adaptor from MOSS. After installing it, I noticed that I had a leak. After examining the mounting, I realized that the block had a ridge that ran under the adaoptor that prevented a solid seal. Using a half round file, I filed a groove in the adaptor that created a gap to allow the mount to seal properly. Works great now.

Just a little advice in case you need it....Ron

thanks ronzet, I too bought one from moss, I haven't installed it yet, hopefully soon. what I would like to know, kind of oil filter and the number of it are you using?, thanks Bob

guys, i still prefer the "dennis welch" type that bolts to the engine block itself, and also will accept a bolt on ring/block that has the oil cooler fittings on it as well.i.m.h.o /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

K&N 2009.

Bob, I have yet to put any miles on the car. I am using a Fram PH3600 on the adaptor until the first oil change after which I will probably go to an upgraded filter. I will look at the K&N 2009 as suggested by our Jedi Warrior Michael. Hope this helps...

By the way, the ridge on the block that I refered to is at the 10:00 position of the filter adaptor... for those in Rio Linda..upper left side. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You may want to visit this site:

and consider whether you want to use the Fram at all.

Michael, Good point. I reviewed the site that you listed. After spending a gazillion dollars on this restoration... spending an extra 10 bucks or so for a good filter is the biggest no brainer on the planet... Hey Bob, heed the advice from so sagely a Jedi Warrior as Michael... I will be upgrading mine. The initial 500 miles is sooo important to a new rebuild and buying a cheap filter is penny wise and pound foolish. Check out the website offered by michael and make your decision. The size should be compatible with the PH 3600 for fit. I will let you know what I purchase.

Ronzet, Mike is right, no more cheapy oil filters for me. No sense in compromising the quality of the materials in our cars that we work so hard to restore, this is the best wbsite to get the knowledge and know how from the guys that have been through it, cheers and thanks to all of you .
