The only "oddball" is the older 803cc and 948cc Standard (and Triumph 10/early Herald) engines. They also had a spin-on filter, but it was of a different type (bypass), smaller and now generally unavailable new. That same filter was also used on some small Austin and Morris engines, and some folks have started manufacturing adaptors for those engines to accept modern and readily available spin-on filters.
I don't know if I've ever seen an "original" filter for the 1147cc and larger Triumph engines, but I think the "original" spec. was for a filter with the male threaded end. The adaptor, though, is the way to go, since it makes local replacement of a filter (with a Fram PH-16, AC PF-13, Ford FL-1A or other equivalent as used on a host of cars) much, much easier!
Did that make things any clearer? Probably not! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
