TR4/4A Speedometer cable replacement access

I have a 1967 TR4A IRS LHD with OD. I need to replace the speedometer cable and I am wondering how I access the gearbox end into the angle adapter. Can that be reached from underneath or do I need to get at it through the tunnel? Or, is an access port under the carpet? Last I looked at it, it seemed that there wasn't enough room to access it from underneath the car.
