Spitfire Speedo Drive Bearing O-ring '66 Herald/Spitfire Mk2

Attempting to rebuild the speedo drive on my Herald/Spitfire "Franken-car," I ordered an o-ring from Moss Motors. What I received was too thin and too small in diameter to do the job, as can be seen in the attached photo. Watching Rusty Beauties on youtube.com, I saw that Elin Yakov had the same issue with the Moss-supplied part. While Moss doesn't seem to list parts for the Herald, Rimmerbros.com does. In fact, it lists the same o-ring to be used for both the Herald and the Spit. I didn't want to pay the shipping price from the U.K. on such a small item, so I sought to source it locally. After several attempts, I finally found what I believe will do the trick. I found it at Ace Hardware among their vast selection. It was a Danco #62, and the measurements are 1-1/8" O.D. x 15/16" I.D. x 3/32" H.

I Installed the ring and then the bearing into the gearbox extension. The fit seemed good. If I ever get this car reassembled, I'll get back to you on whether the r-ng is doing its job. Fingers crossed!
