Last time this happened I installed a new angle drive with the required washer/spacer. I have an overdrive. Now, a year later, my speedometer is not working. The cable isn’t spinning, so I assume it’s snapped. Is this sort of a typical thing with Triumphs, like oil leaks? Or more likely the angle drive? I’ll have it all up on jack stands soon. After all, what else do I have to do?

The cable routing for the OD cars is interesting to say the least, sot that is where I'd start.

The angle drives have been problematic...if you do a search you will see. On the TR2/3, you should be able to route the cable to avoid the adapter. It requires a longer cable. So long as you don't bend the cable radius too tightly as it comes out and heads forward, it should last several decades. Even then, it should last forever if you keep it lubricated...but most owners never bother to lubricate the cable.
