I am at the point that I am installing the Speedo cable and tack cable on my BN2, but I just don't know where they go through the fire wall. Can any one tell me or have a pictures?, I cant find any photos any where. Thanks

See the attached sketch. The cables fit through a slot/indent at the top LH of the extension panel joint.
It also shows where the mysterious third heater mounting bolt is located.

Dave,

Is that the same for the RHD BN1. I have terrible problems with oil syphoning up into my techometer and dripping on my legs. I have all the seals/metal rings in place at the 'engine' end but to no avail. However my cable goes out through a hole in the bulkhead almost straight to the engine. If I redirected it as per your diagram the cable would effectively form a 'U' bend down and up which might help the problem I have (I would probably need a longer cable than the one I have as well).

hi Steve,
I don't know about the cable routing on RHD.

I do know about the oil leaking into the tachometer.

On the Hundred Fours, there is an oil seal on the tach drive housing. You can see it here, item #95, Oil Seal, Pinion, Moss #520-440. You can remove the drive pinion assembly by just unscrewing it from the housing. Best to work from underneath the car.

There is a retaining ring, item #96, which must be removed to get the seal out. This ring is just a tight friction, fit but can be a chore to remove. Very careful prying with a sharp point such as an ice pick will gradually work the retainer out. I would also get a new gasket, item 94.

When my cable started dripping, it had put enough oil into the tach head to seriously screw up the tach movement. I carefully took the tach apart & flushed the moving parts with brake cleaner. Reassembled everything, & it works as good as new plus no drip.
