My Spitfire has a single rail transmission with J overdrive. I bought a new speedo cable, the proper length. When installed the speedo doesn't register. I just had the speedo and tach repaired so i don't think the speedo is the problem. When I put a piece of cable in the angle drive, I can see it rotate as I drive the car. But when the cable is attached there is no movement. The cable is from Victoria British and theier stuff is usually good. I wonder why that is.

Hi, could be that with the extra load of the cable and speedo connected makes the angle drive skip,gently try stopping the cable turning or see if you can turn the cable when car is not moving,does sound as though the problem is with the angle drive.
