Maybe. When driving does it seem accurate, or 20 miles over?? Does it bounce suddenly?? Swing within a range?? Could be as easy as repositioning the needle or as complicated as a complete clean and rebuild. Either case it'll have to come out of the dash and be opened up.

no it just got slow so slow to go up and slow coming down.

yes i know the bounce and break from in the healey

I had a similar speedo problem with a 1934 Dodge. I had lubricated the speedo cable and evidently some of the heavy oil dripped along the cable into the speedometer head. In turn, that interfered with the magnetic connecton between rotating portion within the head and it's needle. Zero to ninety in ten feet!! A cleaning with carb cleaner fixed the problem.
