Speed Channel No More

Fox has taken away Speed Channel, just another lose for the car guys. Personally I'm not a Nascar fan and that seems to be the only thing that's going to carry over to the new Fox channel. Those shows that showed how to restore and improve cars where educational and showed some good ideas. While they did show some reality type shows for filler that were pretty bad. I'm going to miss Hot Rod TV, Car Crazy, My Classic Car, and the rest of these type of shows, hope they surface on another channel.

No more Wind Tunnel either. :grumpy:

Look for the Velocity channel. I think they're the ones likely to pick up some of the old Speed content.

Since most shows on television started wondering towards reality tv / topgear style content, i've started turning to the internet for "normal" car show entertainment. While not on television, a couple of internet shows have good content, with the right setup you can watch these shows on your televisions in HD...

MotorTrend channel on YouTube - content that spans their sister publications like HotRod Magazine (show is called Roadkill), 4Wheel & Offroad (show is called Dirt Everyday), and some motorcycle publication that I can't recall. The MotorTrend shows are more informative and comparative of new cars on the market while more serious than something like "TopGear" it's definitely still entertaining. Their HotRod Magazine show "Roadkill" seems to be a sort of 'how to'/'TopGear' goofing around show, and the 4Wheel & Offroad show "Dirt Everyday" seems to be geared more towards how to (e.g. how to turn that old Chevy military truck into a rock crawler, etc.). They also have a motorcycle show, and a weekly talk show (Wide Open Throttle).

The "/Drive Network" - publishes on YouTube. It has one of my favorite shows, "/Chris Harris on Cars". This channel/network has a variety of shows that spans muscle cars, hot rods, tuner cars, motor sports, car care, and new car tests (in addition to the obligatory weekly talk show).

FastLaneDaily: Car news show that publishes Monday - Friday. Typical show is under 15 minutes.

Of course, there's also Jay Leno's Garage, and Adam Carolla has a show too (CarCast With Adam Carolla). I only watch select content from these channels as i don't find most of it interesting/entertaining.

The best thing that could ever happen IMO is everything like that to disappear and things go back to normal. Why watch when you can do and I don't want or need anyone else thinking "it's cool" owning a car like "that".

If a TV program included anything that had wheels and an engine, I had to give it a look. Still do. Remember these "Car and Track" shows with Bud Lindemann? Seem a bit corny today, but recall with friends it was the talk of the day.

Bit corny, no sir. Much better than most shows I've seen on speed or velocity lately. I think he may have been right about about the E being Jag's pinnacle.
