Oldest son recently got hired by Southwest and completed a month-long training in Dallas. Last week he started actually flying. His first ever flight for SW was Phoenix to San Diego (with other legs the same day: San Diego-Oakland, Oakland-Las Vegas, Las Vegas-Phoenix.). I watch his flights on FlightRadar24 (I have a Gold subscription to eliminate ads).

(I once was in a 747 cockpit, westbound over the Atlantic. Well before 9/11, obviously. I just asked the flight attendant if I could visit the pilots, and she said “Sure!” Immensely impressive; silent 180 degree panorama at 35-ish thousand feet.)
 
Just saw a B-26 fly over about an hour ago. Love those radial engines, they have a sound all to their own! Must be an air show somewhere in the next few days. :thumbsup2:

Oh yeah, as soon as I hear that “sweet sound” I start looking up to see the aircraft.
 
Radials? did someone mention the sweet sound of radials?



One of the best aviation movies I've ever seen.
 
I still remember when our Family was driving North on Highway 99 near Merced,CA.
An endless line of B52s were landing ( & possibly taking off- training?).This was during
the Viet Nam war.
 
Some of the first photos I made were of Connies, from the observation deck (actually the roof) of the Pittsburgh airport, circa:1960. With a "Satellite" 127-roll-film camera that was a Christmas gift. I was ten or eleven. Aircraft and photography were to play a big part in my life from an early age!

I'd like to stumble across those negatives.
 
I have been flying for years, but always kept my feet on the ground,
build and fly radio control, not quite the same, but great fun,
As airplane pilots we have a 100% track record,
We have never left one up there.

would love to see pics, always something that fascinated me (along with radio control model boats) but have never really experienced up close.

will sort some pictures out JP, i have buggies, monster truck, helicopters and a 1/4 scale motorbike too
