Spark Plugs

Old topic, but still confused. I know most people recommend the N12Y plug. But when I look up the plug for different engines, "they" recommend the N5C for the older AH's up to the BT7 and the N12Y after that. Why?

I understand a lot of people use NGK, etc. This is just about the Champion plugs. Thanks.

It's mostly a matter of choice but, I run N5Cs in my TF XPEG and have never had a problem. Just saying. PJ

Possibly a difference in the heads. There was a thread, somewhere, about the later heads--BJ7 and 8, I think--having their plugs embedded further back into the cavities in the heads, possibly the reason they spec (relatively) advanced timing (15deg BTDC@600RPM). BN2s and BN2/100Ms spec slightly different plugs as well, for the same heads but different compression, cams, etc.
