Hello
I am looking for spark plug recommendation for my 67 BJ8
I am running triple side draft Webers, Mallory dual point distributor and a Lucas sport coil
I know there was a recent post recommending Champion N12YC or BoshPlatinum WR7DP Plugs.
I am wondering if the response will be the same.

Thank

I've been a an NGK fan since my 2 wheel racing days (35 years ago ugh...) and have been loyalist on the track with my Healey. Multiple dyno runs indicated NGK BKR7E was the right heat range for my mild-camed, race/street motor running triple 2" SU HD8's and 11.5:1 compression. Most of my races here in the US are just 20-30 minute sprints, so I've tune my car for this application. This might not translate for you.

However, I did step out last fall at Road America and ran a set of the new E-3 style plugs during the 3-day event with good success. The weather was pretty cool in Elkhart Lake and I'm curious to see how they'll perform under the summer heat. Unlike the $1.99 I pay for the NGK's, the E-3 are a premium at $6.99. I haven't dyno'ed with them yet, but they have some pretty strong claims of increased HP....

Re: Spark plugs with Webbers

The guys on 'Horsepower TV' dyno'd a mule before and after installing E3 plugs (E3 was, uh, plugging on the show). The got a couple of HP on a >300HP engine; no great shakes, but, I guess you could say every little bit helps.

Re: Spark plus with Webbers

MY 100/6 (29D engine) with a similar setup, i., e., 3 X 45 DCOE, Mallory (DP, but now using only a single set fo points as a trigger) with an MSD 6ALII ignition runs best on the NGK BP6ES. At different times, I tried BP5ES and BP7ES, but the 6's were right for my application.

I've not recently tried any of the precious-metal sparking bolts on the market, nor has my car ever been run on a dynomometer.

Many years ago (with stock ignition, and maybe SUs) I tried a set of Platinum plugs, and they were a waste, with the center electrode quickly disintegrating. I was told then by a knowledable parts store owner that the old engines/standard points/coil ignition were not a good candidate for those type of fine-wire plugs, and have stayed clear ever since.

Re: Spark plus with Webbers

Thanks for the info guys.
What was the difference between theNGK 5's, 6's, 7's.

I am very close to the end of a 6 year restoration.
Now if I can get it set up properly, that would be great.

Thanks
