Spark Plug Question

Tinster again with another TR6 101 question of the day.

I got an e-mail this morning that my refurbished two carbs and new intake manifold will be shipped tomorrow.

So HOOORAH for the dead red car in my garage. Another step closer towards rebirth.

I tried to purchase the spark plugs recommended by Jeff but they were not available here on the island. The nice folks at Western Auto found some platinum plugs as substitutes.

Now my questions(s):

The plugs come right from the box with a gap of .025".

What gap is needed for a 1968/69 TR 250/6 engine with two Stromberg carbs and electronic ignition black box?

Do I need a special tool to adjust spark plug gaps?

What tool do I purchase to measure spark plug gaps?

Thanks as always,

Tinster in Puerto Rico with tropical storm Chris gonna hit us tomorrow afternoon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grouphug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grouphug.gif

Not generic to the TR6 Tinster.Yes there is a very simple little inexpensive tool that Western auto should have available to adjust the plug gap-check back with them. If you are runing an electronic ignition you can increase the gap out to 0.032". If you have also included a hotter coil such as the Lucas Sport Coil you can go to 0.035" Max!---Fwiw--Keoke

Thanks Keoke- I will check the coil. I know it is chrome and says Lucas on it. The young folks at Western Auto are pretty helpful to this old geezer. They know me by now and always inquire if my TR is still dead.

They had it twice in their shop before it died and everyone was fairly amazed to see the old car. I admit it is a pretty car and looked real cool all shined up with new tires.

A shame it was beaten to death before my wife bought it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
