Before I spend the $15 to get one of the BL key blanks from Moss, does anyone know if the average key shop might have the equivalent? It dawned on me that the only other set of keys is the one attached to the pedal box, but they are a little rusty. I had to go looking for the set I left in my pants, and thought perhaps having a spare set wouldn't be a bad idea. The door key doesn't look too special, but with all the patterns the ignition keys had, that might be a little harder to match.
 
The key blanks are not exclusive to MG's or British cars.
The larger locksmiths probably have the blanks in stock.
When I got my '78, it was missing the boot key. A local locksmith was able to cut one from code and had the blank in stock.
 
Yep, my small local 'Mister Minute' shoe-repair/key cutter had blanks for both ignition and doors/boot for my '78 Midget.
I was a bit surprised actually, this being Japan and not the U.K...
 
Cool! Thanks for the info. Wouldn't have guessed that BL key blanks would be easily available, but I'll see if the local key shops have them.
 
Yes, my local key man (not the hardware store) has a stack of BMC blanks in stock. I've had as many as 5 copies (Just in case ...) made at one time, and he had that many on hand! You shouldn't have any trouble. Speaking of, I haven't ever bothered to get spares for the locks ... better get to it!
