Space Shuttle Landing. Pilots View.

Holy cow! And a dead stick landing, no power. Like flying a washing machine.

Such skill, amazing.
:yesnod:
Thanks for posting.

Aren't they always dead stick landings? On re-entry it becomes the worlds heaviest and fastest glider.

Hey Paul- I need some of those visual displays for the glider.
A perfect one-shot landing!

Hey Elliot, we do know about those one shot landings, don't we. No second passes made here. :jester:

You got that exactly right Paul. Although I do know a person who tried a second attempt ONCE in a KA8... the ending was not pretty at all and as you can imagine did not go well. No injuries, except to the plane.
That's the last time it flew, and I for one was not sad to see it go. I never felt comfortable flying that thing with 40 year old wood spars.

Unbelieveably awesome!

Question though; will we be flying with our comrades soon or will they keep these birds flying?

From What I've heard, May 31st is the last shuttle flight. They did bring the Blackbird outta retirement though. So you never know.

Heard the same thing about the Blackbird. Supposedly replaced by satellite observation to cut costs and supposedly the interesting development of the Aurora project. But I applaud the fact that the fastest airplane in the world is back in business. Did you know it costs $50,000.00 an hour to operate, but what is our national security worth? And we complain about the cost of gas for our cars!

The Aurora,Mach 5-20? Wow! Hypersonic? Who knows.
