... whoa nelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went up the newly remodeled Space Needle yesterday. The Observation Deck now sports a very tall glass wall that leans out (with glass benches). It's a definite improvement as it cuts down all th wind. However, the old restaurant deck (just below it) has become another indoor viewing area that now sports a GLASS FLOOR (550' up)... and it moves like the old restaurant rotated. It was very unnerving at first, but you get used to it. Here are just two shots: one taken by a free photographic service they offer (of us) in that indoor rotating area, and the other of me shooting downward (on the same deck). I'll bet that acrophobics are really going to hate this change.
I'm going to upload some videos soon that really give you a sense of the motion. There are 12 motors that move the entire decking... which feels disorienting at first. You can see one in the second shot. [the original purpose was to allow seated restaurant-goers a chance to see the entire 360 view in an hour]
