Sound/Heat Mats substitutes

I am redoing my midget body and want to apply some type of sound/heat mat to the doors and foot well area.

My cash flow is limited and i was wondering if there might be some product one could use other then Dynamat or similar products that might be cheaper.

At some point a while ago I had read that someone had used a home product from home depot that seemed to work well but I can't find it any longer. Has anyone used something else and if so what?

The other question I have is where does the mat get installed on the door. Does it go on the outer skin of the door, the inner skin of the inside the door or between the door and panels?

Thanks for any help

Lowes has a foil covered bubble type material in the heating duct section of the store. Somewhere around $25 for a box that so far has done a big Healey tunnel, 2 Sprites and a Mini and I still have enough for another car or 2.
It comes in a roll and sticks pretty good with duct tape (good duct tape like Nashua or 3M brands) and I have used weatherstrip adhesive to glue it in too.

I used some of that down near my right foot - my exhaust goes down just on the other side of that wall so it gets very hot with nothing there. That stuff made a big difference, but it's still not 'cool' down there.

Frank, my issue with that product/process is that can trap condensation/water. However, it might be the best "cheap" solution.
