Hi Folks,
Have cleaned and primed and installing a mat (Dynamat) on the floors.
Question - Should this mat be put down under the seat frames?

Thanks,
Will

Seat frames are held above the floor by small spacers. This is to accommoxate carpet, but it should allow the mat, too.

Ed

Hi Will; The MGB adds a wood strip above the carpet, Now the tracks are much different from TR 6. As I just put in new carpets with spacers I also put wood strip on top of spacers along with heat sound mat. under all I now do not drag on carpet.
Did you change the trans seal. Madflyer ( Andy )

Thx guys.
Ed - you answered my next question as to whether the new carpet and pad goes under the seats. I havent started on this yet but assumed it did; but didn’t realize the spacers. Have not opened the carpet box yet (Moss). Suppose you just poke a hole in the right place. I’m hoping to move the drivers sat frame backwards as far as possible to allow for my 6’2” aging frame.
Andy - the rear transmission seal is on back order and I’m stuck until it comes in. As everything is torn out at this point, I guess it’s now or never. The Moss part #120-700 is only $1.79. Hope this is all I need.
Darth - I’m trying to figure out how to get my head lower.

The factory spacers (On the left) are sort of wimpy. Slightly thicker ones leave a little more room for pad and carpet.

Ed: Are the thicker spacers available commercially or did you fabricate them? I'm getting ready to order J. Skinner carpet, etc. Tthanks for any info you can supply! Doug

I fabbed them, but it's possible something similar might be commercially available.

McMaster Carr has aluminum unthreaded spacers, They also have the spacer stock if you want to make your own. E bay has bulk packages but may not have the exact size you are looking for. The big box stores have the specialty drawers in the hardware section. A good bolt supply house might have them. Should not be too hard to find. Frank

What size stand off do you need? I have 5/8" OD - 1/4" ID DOM tubing in steel. If that would work I can cut them for you and send them next week. Frank

Thanks Ed and Frank! Thanks for the offer Frank! Haven't had the time but will try to locate the spacers locally. Ed, would you happen to remember the dimensions of your spacers?

Not really, but the dimensions are not all that critical. It has to fit over a 1/4" bolt, and the height was a probably 5/16 or 3/8.

Hi guys:

For aluminum spacers I've been using this site to purchase them for many years. Catchy name, keeps me from having to remember the name of that Aluminum Spacer website.
